Agency Listing Terms

Last updated: 29 October 2026

1. How listing works

Listing is free. When you add releases@sourcedesk.co.za to a distribution list, or send a release to that address, you agree to these terms on behalf of your agency and the clients whose releases you send.

2. What we do with your releases

We store each release, may publish its full text, and turn its statistics, quotes and facts into searchable entries with your client's name and your press contact attached. If your client has a company newsroom on SourceDesk, its releases also appear there.

3. What you confirm when you send a release

That your client has authorised you to distribute it; that each spokesperson approved their quotes for media use; that statistics are correctly sourced; that you have the right to share any images; and that the release holds nothing confidential.

4. Permission to publish

You give SourceDesk a free, non-exclusive right to publish, display and excerpt your releases, and to let journalists reuse them with attribution. This continues for published content until you ask us to remove it.

We won't sell or license your content as a dataset to anyone else without your separate written consent. Founding members can give that consent when they sign up (see For agencies) and withdraw it at any time by writing to hello@sourcedesk.co.za.

5. Embargoes

Put "EMBARGOED UNTIL [date, time]" in the subject line. We hold embargoed releases unpublished until that time passes.

6. Our editorial choices

We decide what to extract and publish, and may decline a release. We may shorten or reformat for clarity, but we never change the meaning of a quote or a figure. Paying for services never changes how your content ranks.

7. Corrections and removals

Email hello@sourcedesk.co.za with the entry or release link. We act on corrections within two working days, and on urgent legal concerns as fast as we can. To stop listing, remove releases@sourcedesk.co.za from your lists; tell us at hello@sourcedesk.co.za if you also want past content removed.

8. Requests for comment

When journalists send requests for comment through SourceDesk, they go to the press contact named in your release. Please reply or decline before the journalist's deadline. For paying clients, we may show how quickly your agency typically responds.

9. Your contact details

We publish press contact and spokesperson details as they appear in your releases. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle them.

10. Paid services

Paid services are agreed separately in writing. These terms apply to them too.

11. Responsibility for content

You're responsible for what your releases contain. If someone makes a claim against us because of content you supplied, such as a copyright or defamation claim, you agree to cover our reasonable costs.

12. Changes and law

We'll email agencies we know about before changing these terms. South African law applies.
