What we publish
Statistics with a named source, a date and a description of how they were measured. Quotes from releases an agency sent us for publication, or with the speaker's written permission. Facts stated in a release or by a named source, with their date.
What we never publish
Invented or estimated statistics. Quotes without permission. Edits that change the meaning of a quote or a figure.
Two-layer sources
Many business figures come from one organisation and are interpreted by another. We name both: who produced the figure, and who commented on it.
Sample entries
While SourceDesk fills up, some entries are fictional examples. Each is marked SAMPLE on its card and in any text you copy. Never publish them.
Independence
Agencies and their clients can pay for services. Payment never changes what you find or how results rank, and everything paid is labelled. Agencies never learn which journalist used their content unless that journalist contacts them.
Our own research
SourceDesk is owned by 3Vi, a research company. Entries from 3Vi studies are labelled as 3Vi research and published only with the commissioning client's approval.
How entries are prepared
AI tools help us pull entries from releases. A person checks and approves every entry before it goes live.
Keeping entries current
Every entry shows its date. We retire entries when newer figures replace them. Always check the primary source before publication.
Corrections
Spotted a mistake? Email hello@sourcedesk.co.za with the link. We review within two working days. Corrected entries carry a note saying what changed and when.
